Veneers

Dental veneers can mask and improve the appearance of various tooth imperfections. With this single dental treatment, you can have a red-carpet-worthy smile in 1-3 appointments. If you have ever admired a movie star or influencer’s perfect smile, you could be admiring veneers.

Some of the issues veneers address:

  • Slight gaps
  • Minor misalignment
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Discolouration
  • Non-uniform teeth
  • Worn or short teeth
  • Gummy smiles

At North Brisbane Dental Clinic, we offer two types of teeth veneers to meet your cosmetic dentistry needs: composite resin and porcelain veneers.

What Are Composite Resin Veneers?

Composite resin veneers utilise the same material we use to provide tooth-coloured fillings. Resin is a blend of plastic and microscopic glass particles and can be colour-matched to your teeth. Your North Brisbane cosmetic dentist can often complete this procedure in a single appointment.

What Are the Benefits of Composite Veneers?

  • Chairside visit
  • More affordable
  • More easily repairable
  • Less-invasive

At North Brisbane Dental Clinic, we will minimally prepare your teeth and add resin to your teeth in layers, shaping them into a beautiful restoration. We will cure it with a special light to harden the material and polish it to a beautiful shine.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are lab-created thin shells that we use to cover your tooth. We prepare your teeth to make room for your veneers and to improve the surface for adhesion to your restorations. We perform 3-D scans of the teeth and design your smile, ensuring they are the right shape, shade and length for your smile and for a comfortable bite.

We then send the information to a local dental lab to create your veneers. In the meantime, we will place temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them and to complete your smile until the final restoration arrives.

Once we receive your custom veneers, your dentist will attach them to your teeth, sealing them to the tooth completely and giving you a gorgeous, attractive smile you can’t wait to show the world.

Porcelain veneers require 2-3 dental appointments to complete over several weeks or a month.

What Are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers?

  • More natural and translucent
  • More durable
  • Longer lasting (in most cases)
  • More uniform appearance

How Do I Care for My Veneers?

Whether you have opted for resin or porcelain veneers, we recommend some general care guidelines.

  • Don’t bite on non-food objects (fingernails, pens, etc.)
  • Brush and floss each day to keep gums healthy
  • Avoid hard or crunchy foods that could damage your veneers
  • Avoid biting into hard foods, instead cut them up
  • Maintain regular check-ups and cleans

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Dental veneers are a great way to improve your smile. There are different types of veneers, with different applications. Veneers can be made of resin or ceramic, both of which look amazing when used properly. Some people want veneers to completely change their smile, which we can definitely do. In other cases, people want to keep their smile basically the same, but just make some small improvements. Veneers can do all of this when used correctly.
