Is toothpaste gluten free?

In this age of gluten vigilance, we were recently asked this question. As you can tell from the video, Dr Georgia hadn't given it much thought before she was asked! Rest assured, we've since done our research. As it turns out, some toothpastes do have gluten. Having said that, you're not supposed to ingest it anyway. However, if you have coeliac disease and don't want to risk it, there are some brands (eg Colgate) that claim to have no gluten in their toothpaste. This is great to hear, but remember to always check the label!

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
